Artist Statement about the work:

"My husband of 41 years passed away suddenly near the end of covid isolation. I needed to plan something to find some joy in my life.  I have taken a number of classes sculpting in Italy and France and of course Canada but have never had the opportunity to do a full sized figure. I contacted Gabriele Vicary a very accomplished figurative sculptor and made plans to complete this series in his studio in Italy. I worked very hard and was able to finish my work and then to return to Canada and await the bronzes which were shipped Air Freight to Victoria" - Joanne Helm
